Mixed Salad, how to SFG? Empty Mixed Salad, how to SFG?

Post  Tris 3/6/2013, 7:18 pm

I bought a bag called Mixed Salad, it has
turnip purple top greens
mustard
kale
hanover
spinach

I thought it all sounded well and good, but now that I'm in excel and trying to work out where everything will go, I'm a bit stumped. I looked and the seeds look slightly different, mostly same size but different colors. Should I just mark off however many sqft for the grab bag and drop a couple 4 per sqft?
I searched, but couldn't find any answers Smile

all of those can be a cut and come again mix, so yes 3-4 per square should do it.

What does the back of the package say for planting instructions? When I had a package of micro salad greens, it said to thin to 1/8" or 1/4" or some such crazy thing. I ended up just delegating two squares to it, generously sprinkling the seed all over the squares, and giving the squares a hair cut every couple of weeks. Yours don't sound like they are micro greens though, so check the package. My point is just that with these mixed greens you don't have to worry about lining everything up in neat little rows in your squares. Smile

These are obviously meant to be cut while small since kale is a large plant if left to itself.
As Gwennifer said, cut and come again. Cut off enough here and there for a salad and do it again in a couple days, keeping the plants low and growing.
