Oh wow Darci, I can't believe how much snow you still have! As soon as your soil can be worked (yeah right, huh) you can plant peas! Maybe that is some encouragement!

darci.strutt wrote:My garden squares still have 8 inches (or more) of snow on them. I dream of taking part in "Carrot Week" but it just may not happen... I do have some pepper and cilantro growing under lights in the basement already though so I consider the 2013 gardening season officially started!!
Do not dispair Darcy! Last week I had at least 2 feet of snow on all my beds, but with daytime temps getting near 40 I am seeing more and more surface of my trellises. You and I may just get some carrots in by 4-15 yet!

I stuck the thick plastic on my dome tonight, and we're going to get above freezing (at least during the day) for the next week! I'm hanging on for carrot-week GG! You and me! Let's go for it!

Darci - in desperation after losing my seeds for 2013, I bought a pack of Rainbow Mix Carrots. Well, the day after I bought the seeds I found where I had put many of my seed packets! I now have Cosmic Purple, Jaune Obtuse, and the Rainbow Mix. Now I just need the rest of the snow to leave in the next few weeks. Forecast for 52 today, so there is HOPE!!!

It will not be an early spring in my garden! Since this pic we have had one more ice storm and one more blizzard.
There is hope for Spring!
