Somehow I found myself at this site and the tomatoes look so delicious. Wondering if anyone has used this company and the success of your efforts.

Those plants look great! However, they are in California. She buys most of her seeds from tomatofest.com. Maybe there is a local grower near you who grows the same or similar heirloom varieties. Sometimes a local greenhouse will take seed you provide and grow some for you, some for them. Very Happy Check around.

Hey Camp, that's a very cool idea. I've never thought to ask a nursery if they'll grow my plant seeds. That might be the best way to do my peppers, since the ones I grow myself vs. the ones I buy at the nursery are always duds. I guess I just haven't gotten the hang of it.

I know this probably doesn't apply to everyone, but if you have any Amish folks in your area, you should ask if they'll raise your seeds for you. They're honest, hardworking people who really know know the land and will probably be happy to help you. We have a lot of Amish people where I live, and I tell you what, their plants are always the most vigorous and beautiful. I'm lucky enough to have found an Amish nursery this summer, and they grow the most interesting varieties! About 10 times the selection you'd find in even the best conventional nursery in my area.

Littlesapphire I totally agree with you about the wonderful Amish people. I have been fascinated with them for many years and very much admire the way they grow their crops, raise their animals and live their lives.

I would try a local grower/nursery also. There is a better chance that you will get the plants that grow best where you live. Ask around and you may find a smaller nursery that could grow the plants you want. I had never thought about having a nursery grow the seeds for me either.

Are you saying to just walk into a business and ask them to grow the seeds? I can't really see myself doing that. Embarassed You guys really do that? How do you guess at which places will do that?

As for ordering the seeds, I am not sure that would be the best thing for me as I have room for only 3 plants and the minimum order from that seed company is $15.00.

Another thing I noticed is that this company really believes in the smart pots for growing tomatoes. Has anyone used those?
