What would eat cedar?
My beds and trellis frames are made of Eastern Cedar which, just like its western counterpart, is renown for its resistance to rot and insects.
I noticed the other day though that something had started a gallery in one of my trellis frame peices. In eastern Canada we really only have the carpenter ant too worry about when it comes to this sort of thing but the "tunnels" were much to small for that, about pencil lead size. I cut away at the area and found nothing there so whatever it was looks like it moved on, but I'm just wondering what it could have been.

I think it depends on the cut and quality of cedar you have...really good cedar has a great aroma and a color pattern...cheap cedar lacks both these. I am no expert however, just cut a lot of cedar with friends.

Maybe termites. they're about the only thing I can think of that'll eat wood.

There are cedar borers in the insect world.
