I got my mel's mix made up and filled my new boxes. I also got most of my fencing around the boxes done. I ran out of the bamboo/reed roll, so need to figure out something else for the gate! Any suggestions? I am not going to buy another roll just for that...6' x 16' for $24 (not a bad price, I just don't need tons extra). I still need to put my grids together as well as my trellis and decide what to put around the boxes.

First, love the bamboo. Great idea.
As for what to do with the gap... I once saw a really cool gate made out 1/2 electrical conduit. The same stuff Mel recommends for a trellis. They made a frame with 2"x4" then drilled 1/2" holes to run the conduit through at 3" intervals. Looked very cool and conduit is dirt cheap.

If you're lucky, and shop at Goodwill or other thrift stores, you might find a 6' matchstick shade to use to build your gate....

Great ideas! Keep 'em coming!! The fence itself is only 3 ft high, as I cut the original roll in half.

Looking good nice layout of the box's and pathways and i like the little added solar walk lights so you can go investigating at night lol as for a gate you could use some 2x2 to make a frame and then use some xtra/leftover lath to make a grid of sorts on the gate to block out intruders 1 garden tie (round on 2 sides flat on 2 sides) 8ft cut in 1/2 and sunk 1 ft deep in the ground ahould work fine for the swing side and the other for the latch side just a thought.
