Hello from Washington
Hi,
I am sort of new to gardening. When I was a kid we had great big gardens to feed 8 people. As an adult we never had a very big area to garden. This year I had old dead shrubs taken out and in my flower beds I planted a small garden.
I have 2 hills of zucchini, 4 red cabbage plants, 4 cabbage plants, 4 tomato plants, 2 strawberry plants, 4 broccoli plants, and 8 shell pea plants. After I got that all planted I was getting into my bag of golden potatoes and found one that had a 2-3 inch sprout on it. So I cut it in half and planted the half with the sprout. I now have an almost waist high plant where I planted it.
We have had a few tomatoes, peas, broccoli and cabbage from the garden so far. I am so excited to see how things go and thinking ahead for next year already.
I am interested in seeing what this site is about.

Re: Hello from Washington
Well hello from Washington back at ya!
Hi bekki and welcome to the forum. There's plenty to read if you want to poke around. This forum was founded to support the gardening method taught in the All New Square Foot Gardening book by Mel Bartholomew. If you get your hands on a copy you'll find it a quick and easy read, but there's a wealth of information in there. Combining the book with this forum has proven all I've needed.
Let us know if you have any questions - lots of friendly folks around here. So glad you've carved out some space in your flower beds for vegetables. Happy gardening!
