I got a compost bin today, big surprise!
Our family was working in the yard today and we were trying to figure out what to do with our compost, as it is almost filling the old garbage can we started it in. I said that I thought we should just make a pile. Dh had a brilliant idea. We have two old chicken tractors in the shed that I don't know when we'll use so he thought we should convert one into a compost container.
Our chicken tractor was made with 2x4s and is basically a wooden box 4'x10'. We removed the lids because they were broken. I'll need to get tarps. I put chicken wire across to make a 4x4 section. If we fill that and feel we need more space I will divide the remaining section to make 2 3x4 sections.
So I have a 2 (or 3) section compost bin with just moving one big heavy box, taking lids off and stapling on some chicken wire. Yay! (oh and buying a tarp) And we are happy to have more room in the shed now, we could hardly move in there.

Cool! I love it when I can repurpose like that. Are you going to be turning your compost?
