Cute when little, not so much when grown and aggressive.  We had one get into our living room once during a home remodel when our walls were open.  NOT FUN!!!!

Audrey, True. I'm in the northern expansion of the city and I had one walking along the top rail of the fence. I've never seen one since. Even a fox trotting down the street late at night. I'm glad the cat is in at night.

We had one in our washing machine one night. I guess he was looking for water to drink.
Yes, they are cute when little, but as audrey.jeanne.roberts stated, as adults they are NASTY! You can see right at the beginning of this video he hisses at me. I guess I would do the same thing if rudely awakened.  Shocked

Anyway, he was relocated into some woods where he might not have a buffet, but will be happier.

Hissing means the wild oppossum wants no trouble. I certainly wouldn't treat it like a kitty. Glad to hear of the relocation away from that nice large pile of compost.

I agree that they're much cuter when little.

We had one get a nail hooked on our electric fence one time...  NOT a happy camper!  We brought the dogs in for the night, turned off the fence, and never saw him/her again.

Yes, Plantoid, that's an opossum.

It's funny how some animals seem to thrive living near / amongst humans and others just can't adapt. Case in point: the police shot a black bear just north of Toronto yesterday. What the heck was a bear doing in the midst of a city of six million? (Population of the Greater Toronto Area, which was where he was).

Thirty years ago possums had just been spotted on the Canadian side of the Niagara River. I live four to four-and-a half hours by car from the Falls, and they are here now as well. Creepy looking when they're adults.
