Dissapearing Posts
I just finished up a long-winded explanation to someone in a thread about composting. I hit the "send' button and poof.....it disappeared. It didn't post. What gives?

LOL - I wonder if you and I were posting at the same time - were you answering Bearded Iris's first post about their greenhouse compost? I was welcoming them and my post is gone too? Weird...

Actually my post was a little while ago.....the thread was titled, "Disappointed". Someone(I forget who) had a few questions about compost so I typed up a semi-lengthy response and POOF!

I've had it happen to me several times. BUT, in my case I always figure it was actually my fault. I often hit "Preview" first when I've included links or pictures or what-not. Then it looks like I've posted, so I forget that I still have to hit "Send"!
Anyway, sorry your nice reply disappeared. It's kind of you to take your time to answer someone so thoroughly and it's frustrating for all the work to go "poof".

I've had that happen too. Since then, I copy everything to my clipboard before posting in case it gets lost in never never land, so I can then just bring it back and try again.

I was writing a relpy, and since I'm a bad speller, I hit preview first. D___, my reply is gone, and it came up, I had to log in again!!

I was logged in. Like you said, you must be logged in to reply. I think the system had a burp and did away with my reply, while it logged me out.
I guess I got peturbed and expect more than I should from a free forum.
From now on I will write important replies in another program, then copy and paste.

This is not a new issue and has been discussed several times. If you are posting anything of length or importance, write it in something such as notepad, then copy and paste. I've combined this thread with one discussing the same thing.

Rooster, I guess moving threads is going to be the norm now. My lost post is not a new story, but, I had an issue when the post got lost in space, the forum also logged me out.
I have a question for you. If I decide to write a thread, should I search for the subject and just post to someone elses thread, rather than writing my own?

I've always moved posts to help with organization. It makes it much easier and more helpful when others are searching for topics of the same nature. There's no reason why topics that are basically the same in nature shouldn't be combined. The moderators are instructed to do the same. I call it good housekeeping and I generally (not always) contact members when their posts are moved.

Searching the forums is always encouraged. Especially if you are having issues. That's why we combine posts and topics. You may readily find the answer. If you feel like posting, then do so but keep in mind that myself and our staff reserve the right to move a post if it rings a bell of a topic of a similar nature. It's not meant to be offensive in any way.

I like the idea of the mods moving posts as sometimes I wonder if I perhaps should have posted elsewhere.
