Hello From Bixby Oklahoma
Starting my first SFG. Very excited. I found out about all of this SFG stuff at the Bixby Library with my daughter. She had a project to do with a friend and I was stuck in the library for a couple of hours. Found a book called Cubed Foot Gardening. Was interested and wanted to buy my own, but on barnesandnoble.com, everyone posted that you should buy the square foot gardener instead, so I did and am very happy I did.
Built a couple 4x4 frames and have started seeds indoors with the virmiculite. Can't wait for them to start growing.

I'll let others come along and have a chat .... I'm off to bed as here in Great Britain it's now 01.30 hrs. and I've had a long long day
.

I have seen women looking at jewelry ads with a misty eye and one hand resting on the heart, and I only know what they're feeling because that's how I read the seed catalogs in January - Barbara Kingsolver - Animal, Vegetable, Miracle

Welcome to the SQF board! You got good advice - the best book out there for raised bed gardening is Mel's book! I grew up just down the road from you - went to Union! My how that area has changed in the last 20ish years... Good luck to you and be sure to ask questions here if you have them - there is a lot of knowledge in some of these folks!

Hey there..
Hi there. I am so close to you in Sapulpa. In the beginning stages of the building the boxes. Where are you finding the compost, peat moss, etc? Maybe we can stay in touch somehow through e-mail to keep in touch on how things are going. This is my first garden period in my whole life. Very excited!

First Time Gardener Info
I'm not sure how to reply to the individual posts I've gotten, but thanks for all the feedback.
The book I started with was the Square Foot Gardener Revised. I really enjoy it. Really easy to follow.
To my Sapulpa friend: I found Stringer Nursery to be very helpful. They are at 41st between Sheredin and Memorial by Home Depot. They have tons of product you need. Peat Moss, Vermiculite and composte. I didn't actually look at all the composte yet, they may not have 5 different kinds but from the look of the place I bet they do. I haven't made my Mel's Mix yet, will probably do that this coming weekend. I've found that most of the stores are just now getting ready for the garden season and haven't put everything out.
At Stringer Nursery I saw a pallet of bags that actually said Square foot garden soil.
