Hello from Oklahoma
I've read the book a few times over and I believe I'm ready to take my family on the SFG trip. I've always believed in self reliance and now this is a splendid tool to achieve those means. These are tough economic times and stretching a dollar is essential. Gardening your own food will go a long way towards those means!

Re: Hello from Oklahoma
Well thank you!
I guess my first question is now that I'm going out today to purchase the wood and materials to build three or four garden beds what crops should I plant in them? I've been looking for a garden planner specific to mid-June but without much luck right now. I'm still looking though.

Re: Hello from Oklahoma
This is actually more for NE TX, but might be close enough.

I'm not sure if it has summer and fall crops but here is one for OK>

You still have time for squash, southern peas, and beans. I gotta head out to the garden, then to my temporary day job, but that should get you started, hopefully some OK gardeners will pipe in in a bit.

So glad you read the ALL NEW SQUARE FOOT GARDENING book.
Building your beds and preparing the Mel's Mix to go inside is the hardest part of SFGing.
Hope FarmerValerie's links help you make your seeding decision.
Keep us posted on your progress and share pictures too.
Again, Welcome!

So very glad to have ya!
Take a look at this thread when you get a chance: https://squarefoot.forumotion.com/t7451-mel-s-mix-how-strong-is-your-backbone . It should help you figure out how to craft your SFG. The Mel's Mix is the most important part. You want it to be as close to perfect as possible.
Also, we LOVE pictures around here. We can learn so much from each other just by looking at the beautiful pictures posted on these forums. When you get your SFG up and running please post some pictures for us.
And, don't forget to visit your regional forum! Regional forums are a great place to get region specific information, ask regional questions, and generally get to know folks from your area.
Take care and happy gardening.
