I am planting from seeds and trying to judge the right time to get my seeds in the ground so i don't have my garden ready to harvest while i am on vacation. When the package of seeds says for example 72 days till harvest is that AFTER the seeds sprout? Pretty general questions - but every week counts havest times - planting from seeds Icon_biggrin

Yes, usually after seeds sprout OR transplanted. But give yourself a week or so of leetime as plants do not always obey the instructions on the package. I've had beans that were ready to pick a full week before the were "supposed to", and then others that refused to get done for a week to 10 days after. Disobedient little devils, aren't they? havest times - planting from seeds Icon_twisted

This is why neighbors and family knock on the door at vacation time and ask if you will feed the cat AND help yourself to the garden so it doesn't go to waste.
