Looking back at 2011
I'm feeling kind of blue because it's still the dead of winter and I won't be able to start even my earliest seeds inside for another month, so I decided I'm going to post all my 2011 garden pictures! Maybe that'll cheer me up, and maybe you too
April 7th
This is one of the first real signs that spring is coming for me. My crocuses start coming up!
June 28th
I'm disappointed I didn't take more pictures of the earlier stages of my garden, but oh well! At least I'll remember to this year.
Despite what Mel says in his book, I still put most of my garden way out in the back of my yard, about 75 feet from my house.
The other part of my garden is on the south facing side of my house, close to my side door. Those are forks you see in the soil. I had a cat pooping it it all the time!
Here's a friend who would come to visit me in the garden. She was really sweet, and had many many toes!
And here's my first zucchini!
July 17th
Here my garden is a little later and a little bigger. My peas were starting to grow further than I could reach.
August 5th
Look, my first ever carrot!
I had just enough of the cat pooping in my garden, and the deer eating ALL the leaves off my pole beans, so I put up a cheap fence around my garden. It worked, though. The beans actually recovered from having all their leaves eaten (twice) and produced a nice crop.
Here's my hubby and my cat being adorable, lol.
August 15th
Here's some of my yummy harvest.
August 23rd
And that's all I've got! Hope you enjoyed as much as I did

Great pictures! Are the canned tomatoes pickled? Do you have a recipe? They are gorgeous to look at and would make lovely Christmas gifts (I'm thinking ahead here )

Thank you, everyone! I'm glad you all enjoyed my pictures.
LaborDay, the tomatoes are indeed pickled. I got the recipe from the Ball Blue Book, the pickled cherry tomato recipe. I made it for Christmas gifts, too, though I kept some for myself as well. They're very intense and are great on sandwiches.

Actually, here's a link to someone's blog with the exact recipe on it:

LDRN, thanks for asking the question I thought of when I first read LittleSapphire's post.
LittleSapphire, the pickled tomatoes look wonderful, especially on a dreary day. Thanks for providing the recipe, it sounds great.

I loved the walk thru your garden. Makes me yearn for this year as I watch the snow coming down outside my windows.

Re: Looking back at 2011
Really enjoyed a stroll through your garden. Love your multi-toed kitty. The plastic forks are creative, functional, and quite humorous! Thanks for making me smile.

I also used the forks to prevent my foster kitty (we care for her during the winter and spring while her parents are in Arizona) from playing, laying and pooping in my nice Mel's Mix and lettuces.
This is last year's Round Foot Garden on our semi-enclosed porch, March, 2011. Parris Island Romaine, Frizzy Headed Drunken Woman Lettuce and tiny seedlings of Revolution Lettuce.

Re: Looking back at 2011
Lol Furbal, I want to try that Drunken Woman lettuce just because it sounds so funny. The forks worked well for me, but I had to place them really tightly together. Otherwise, the cat would find a hole in the forks just big enough for his butt!

Drunken Woman Frizzy Headed Lettuce << CLICK THERE
I had the name backwards
Actually a very good lettuce, tender and sweet. Relatively bolt resistant.
I think I bought this because Boffer had it first.
