I'm back! I missed reading all of the posts on the forum and look forward to catching up. We had a great time at Disney, but it's good to be home.

On our way home we stopped at a Lowes in Erie, PA to look for raised bed kits. I was able to find some made by Suncast for about $33 each. Here is a link from the Suncast website: Suncast Raised Bed Kit

I bought 3 of them and I'm going to set them up so that I have two 4x4 at the 5 1/2" height and one 4x4 at 11" configured into an L shape.

Here is a picture from the manual:

Before I left for vacation I ordered some organic/heirloom tomato seeds from a local seed company.

  • Beefsteak

  • Green Zebra

  • Brandywine

  • Black Brandywine

  • Black Sea Man

Now I have space to plant them! I'm so excited for spring to come now. Laughing

In the Land Pavilion at Epcot we saw some hydroponic and raised bed gardens that Disney experiments with. It was pretty interesting to see. They said that their gardens supply produce to a lot of the restaurants in the WDW Resort. So, I'm sure we ate some veggies from Disney's own gardens. flower

How were things in the present garden when you got home?

That place is amazing (tempted to jump off the ride & go running around looking at stuff).

I still have mixed feelings about it though ....not sure if it motivated me, or made me want to give up because I'll never grow anything as nice as that.

The mixed-agg/aquaculture exhibits were my favorite ..... some of those fish/plant symbiotic systems are absolutely AMAZING.

We had a great time! When I got home, the tiny eggplant that was growing had grown quite a bit. Still not big enough to harvest yet, but it's getting there. Something ate my beet tops and lettuce mix, so I'm not sure that it's salvageable now. After my eggplant is harvested, I may just pull everything and get it ready for winter. We should be getting a frost here in just a couple of weeks anyway.

I was really impressed with it too. The tomato and pepper trees were awesome! I think next time I go to WDW I will take the backstage tour of their gardens. It would be well worth the cost I'm sure!
