Mid-Atlantic Garden Blogs & Web Sites
Are there any Mid-Atlantic specific garden blogs or web sites you like? What do you like about them?
One I particularly like is appropriately named Mid-Atlantic Gardening.
The author, Stacey, has a different "type" of article/post each Monday-Friday:
Monday is "Did You Know?"
Tuesday is "Pests and Diseases"
Wednesday is "Plant Profiles"
Thursday is "Reader Questions"
Friday is "Free For All" where she covers other fun gardening topics
Today's (1/2/12) Did You Know? is a great article about GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms a.k.a. Franken-Food).
Last Friday's (12/30/11) "Free For All" featured a list of 22 goals she wants everyone to consider doing in the New Year. Here it is:

Last Friday's (12/30/11) "Free For All" featured a list of 22 goals she wants everyone to consider doing in the New Year. Here it is:
- Start a compost pile
- Expand your existing compost pile so that you can turn more of your scraps into black gold
- Add vermicomposting (worm composting) which can be done under your kitchen sink
- Start a vegetable garden
- Expand your vegetable garden
- Plant a container of herbs or other veggies if your space is limited
- Add perennial veggies like strawberries or asparagus to your garden
- Add perennial shrubs like blackberries or gooseberries to your landscape
- Add an orchard, even if it is only a couple of trees
- Expand your orchard to include other producers like paw paws, pecans, and figs
- Add a rain barrel to catch stormwater runoff from your roof that can be used to water your garden
- Start your own vegetable, perennial or annual seeds indoors
- Build a cold frame that you can use to harden off your seedlings
- Add a greenhouse – it doesn’t have to be big or extravagant to get the job done
- Add compost to your landscape – if your trying to improve your lawn,
add a 1/4″ layer over the top. Remember it’s all about feeding the
soil, not the plants. - Add hardscaping like paths or pergolas
- Add lighting to your landscape so that it can be enjoyed after sunset
- Add plants that will attract beneficials so that they can fight your battles against pests for you
- Add a beehive
- Add bat houses
- Add bird houses, bird baths and/or bird feeders
- Commit to using less or no pesticides in 2012

Re: Mid-Atlantic Garden Blogs & Web Sites
Personally, I've found it hard to find decent blogs on any subject. However, if a few do a lot of the work....or already know of some....this is a great idea to share with the forum as a whole.
I may put the same topic in our region. Maybe at some point, we all collaborate. You don't mind, do you?

Not at all. LOL It seems we have a "glut" of blogs for the mid-atlantic and I hope that asking people WHY they like the one they recommend will help me find good links for the area.
I'm only sad that my favorite gal from the Baltimore Sun has gotten a "promotion" and now does wonderful feature articles and no longer covers the garden.
