Different versions of book.
Today I saw this version of the book in the seed rack at HD. It is a small book for $4.99.
The regular book pictured below was available in the book/magazine area. Not sure of the price but think it was something like $17.
I can see where newbies might be confused..

I remember that thread but I searched & couldn't find it tonight. I don't recall seeing the different covers before and thought it might help to see the difference.

yah we newbies get confused easily. I hurt my hand with my hand spade the other day 'till sombody pointed out I was holding onto the wrong end! what is a newbie anyway????

Definition: A newbie is a slang term for a person who is new to the Internet and Web culture in general. For example, if you're not familiar with something on a message board, you might be called a "newbie". Usually this isn't meant to be derogatory, it's simply a classification term.

Just ordered original 1981 sfg book
I've borrowed it from the library and find it has lots of interesting tidbits that make it worth having as a reference. Looks like Mel couldn't get everything in the newest book.

I know this particular post is from 2011, but there is a distinction in these definitions.
While newb or newbie is not meant to be derogatory, noob or noobie is. At least that was the distinction I found after years of gaming.
