(The subject came up here:

I don't know if there is a "common" way to remember but I thought about it and came up with this: From a grammar class I recall that a, e, i, o, are common vowels that come after four of the "M" states. As in MA, ME, etc. Then you are left with the other four states that end in s,t,d, and n. Those letters make me think of a simple sentence, "STD-No!"
So here are your 8 "M" states-
MA, ME, MI, MO, MS, MT, MD, MN
I swear I just made this up.
SEDATION
MS
ME
MD
MA
MT
MI
MO
MN

Llama Momma, you are obviously a youngster. When I was in grade school, state abbreviations were things like Mass. Conn. Wash. Calif. Wis. etc. etc. etc.

Very funny Martha, did you notice we're the same age? But I do remember when they were abbreviated like that too.

Thats ok I was laughing! If you wanna talk about "old" anytime I'm game! I remember the sisters in parochial school (1960's) wacking rulers on students knuckles, I believe these days that would be abuse!

Re: Senseless Banter...
dunno, I'm using the weather thing that looks like yours; for some reason it didn't load.
Boys still got swats when I was in school. What hurt the most though, was that the wood shop teacher would make us make our own paddle for him to use on us. He had quite a wall full of paddles.

Re: Senseless Banter...
I'm turning in. If no one minds, I will just leave the 3 word up until I get up in the morning. Around 5 a.m. Doubt it will see much more action, but feel free to carry it on till then...

Wow! That's not nice!
When I was in school, my class was the first one to have the girls take shop and the boys take Home-Ec for a quarter. I'm surprised the HE teacher survived - although there was only one incident of one of the boys smashing on egg on his friend's head!
On the other hand, the shop teacher (whose name - no kidding -was Mr. Carpenter) said he never had it so easy as with us perfect girls! (NR - did you get us the shiny halo emoticon yet? )
