Newbie from Central Florida
Hello! Just found this forum. We live in the Tampa, FL area and have just started a square foot garden. I hope to learn a lot from all the experienced gardeners here!

Welcome
I am a newbie as well and live in the Dunedin area. This is the time to get your lettuce, tomatoes and other "cold season" plants going. I just had a great salad last night and the first mess of green beans from my plants that I planted on Labor day. This summer really burnt most of the garden to a crisp with the heat, I have to look into some shade cloth or turn the heat down on the sun just a smidge next year.

Hi there!
Thanks Mike! Good to "meet" you. We have friends that used to live in Dunedin. We got planting a little late this year because it took longer than we thought to build our SFG (my husband was thinking big - we have a 10 x 5 SFG that he made into a sort of giant earth box with pipes beneath the soil and a pipe coming up to put water in). We're having issues with some of the stuff coming up and not growing well (see my post in the seeds and plants forum), but the lettuce in the lettuce bed (not a SFG) is doing pretty well now. Can't wait to harvest a salad myself! Sue.

August? We're usually dying to get out of here by August! But it's finally starting to "cool down" to the 80's and the humidity has dropped, so it feels great now.
