Vermiculite
Let me know, I've had to buy in those tiny bags.
I'm wondering why the stuff from the bean bag chairs wouldn't work. Looks the same. Have fun with SFG..

Central Florida
I'm in the middle of the state and the cold has reeked havoc but still the cabbage and collards flourished.Even the strawberries were saved. Onions and parsley looks good. A fun thing to watch this process. I'm not a Gardner.. Well Now I'm certified and loving this process.

Re: Regional people
Hi Ward Well if you are a follower of "the system", then there's probably not alot. I have been dabbling in SFG for about 10yrs and didn't learn much more about the actual gardening that I didn't understand, But what we did learn was teaching techniques and how and where SFG is being used around the world and the plans for the future. It was a wealth of info. We built beds, both on the ground and 2X4 raised bed, we made "Mels mix, we planted both seeds and bedding plants. We discussed both small home business and also how to apply it to big business. It was a "blast". I plan to get more involved both in schools and church community gardens. seeya Phil

RE: Regional People
Greetings from Orlando. As a complete Newbie, it's nice to connect with some "local" SFG folks. Got my 2 4x4's filled yesterday, laid out my grids this morning. Next will be the chicken wire covers to keep out the squirrels.
I have broccoli, lettuce, chives and some sunflowers seeded and sprouting. 4 tomatoes and 2 peppers in pots waiting to be transplanted. Hope the forecast stays good for the rest of the week.

Nice garden
I checked out your garden thread. Really nice boxes. I'm inspired. Mine look nowhere near as nice, but hopefully they'll do the job. I have not done trellises yet. How do you plan to integrate the covers with the trellises? I have not gotten my head around that one yet.

Re: Regional people
Personally I think these look great. Now get out and poke in some seeds! I wanna see um grow.
Re: Regional people
Thanks Lavender Debs. We have so many squirrels around here that I'm trying to finish bending some chicken wire first. Then we'll get some seeds going an transplant a few other things as well.
