I am a new member looking to find a source for bagged leaf mold over the internet. I was reading SFG web page that was in regards to very expensive sources but, never gave the source. I live in Salem Oregon and would love a local source to be delivered as an option also.

May I suggest you try FreeCycle in your area and ask for leaves this fall? You would get them for free but you will have to pick them up yourself.

You will have to compost it to make leaf mould, I would think. It takes time to make leaf mould, hence some of the expense.

I wanted to get started sooner than leaf fall. I usually put a 6 inch layer of leaves on beds and then cover with compost at equal measure and let the garden break down the leaves and I can still plant cover crop. I am wondering if just starting with a deep layer of compost for now and planting a cover crop on it and skip the leaves until spring after I cut down cover crop.

I mispurchased some oat seeds with husts on couldn't use for sprouting in kitchen sprout project. Can I use oats for a cover crop for areas where I grew beans this year? I usually use winter fava beans but, I am concerned about adding too much nitrogen.

Off to farmers market for water melon to process into juice for winter.
