Do these look like Kentucky Wonders to you?
It may be hard to see from these pictures, but these things are flat and get curly. I could swear they put the wrong seed in the packet.

Try looking at this collage of KW pictures. Apparently they can vary some thru circumstances be it the soil, weather or seed influence. http://www.google.com/search?q=kentucky+wonder+beans+pictures&hl=en&client=safari&rls=en&prmd=ivns&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=up9GTpHeAtLhsQL-z6mfBg&ved=0CB0QsAQ&biw=1429&bih=695

Yup! Are your vines 13 feet tall too? When the seed company puts a photo on the package or in a catalog they pick the bestest, straightest, most uniform beans to show, but in reality, you get what you got. Mine are still tasty and going into the freezer almost every day.

Okay, if you guys say so. I thought they would be a little plumper, and shorter. Do they really grow 13' high? Yikes. My trellis is the standard size, I think it's 6', and they do surpass the trellis, but if they had 13' high trellises, they would probably be happier then. The Japanese beetles also did a number on their leaves.
camprn, when you blanch your beans to freeze, do you cut them at all, or just throw them in whole?

In blanching my runner beans, they tend to be about 6" long or longer so I blanch and freeze them cut into about 1.5 chunks. And really, have your water boiling, dump the beans in, time on for 3 minutes, stri the beans around occasionally them take them off the heat at 3 mins. in the colander I rinse in cold water and then do the ice water bath for a few mins. Then let them sit for a bit to drain and dry in the colander, then into the freezer.
