My stringbeans are not producing!!!!
I'v planted 2 varities of string beans in my SFG, purple and regular. Both varities are vigoriously growing, healthy and spreading all around. Purple varities are producing flowers and beans but regular varities are not producing any flowers or beans. Anyone has any suggestion how to bring produces?

How long have you had them in the ground? Could it be that they just aren't old enough yet? Did the packet for the green ones have a longer harvest time than the purple?

Harvesting time is same, as mentioned on the packet. Green plants grown much bigger than purple one though planted at the same time, same SFG bed.

Any way to post a picture? I don't know what that will solve, but it's hard for me to believe we have a dud packet of seeds on our hands here. There has to be an explanation.
What variety, specifically, did you plant?

If the plants are vigorously growing and healthy looking, it may be that you just need to be patient. They should start producing when they're ready to. I've learned from the more experienced gardeners on the forum that those seed packet harvest times are only an estimate. I would also think that different varieties could react differently to the same temperatures, watering schedules, etc.
I'd try not to worry, though I absolutely understand how it's hard to be patient when waiting, and give them a bit longer. Plants respond to their own inner clocks, not ours.

I agree with Sherryeo, those times are just an estimate on the seed packages. Also, since being different varieties, they might do things different. Temperature, water, sun, who knows what, causes them to decide to do what they will. I thought mine would never produce beans, but they have started to. Relax and give them time.

Your explanation make sense to me. Its about 6 weeks since it was planted. I hope I'll see something better later this month.

Hi,
Are you comparing bush beans to pole beans? My pole beans take forever to start producing, then do not stop as long as I keep them picked. Happy Gardening.
