I was given an old whiskey barrell and made a rain barrell with it. Will the water affect my plants (garden and landscaping) being in the whiskey barrell? And will the water be ok to mix chemicals with so I can spray the plants? Most of my stuff is organic sprays.

There are several sites online that actually sell rain barrels made from whiskey barrels, so I don't see how it should be a problem. Wish I had one!!

It shouldn't. How old is the barrel? Do you know, was there anything GROWN in it before you got it, or was it just used for aging spirits and wine?

It should, if it was simply used for spirits or wine.

Wish I had 7 or 8 more. No problem to turn it into a rain barrell, took me maybe 15 min. Filled the thing up with one short rainstorm.
