Since I am still rather new to this forum, I can not post links...
Try these search combinations:
"rain barrels for sale southern new jersey"
"Rutgers edu stormwater management rainbarrels"
"thomasnet plastic barrels"

rain barrels
Not sure exactly, but if you have a Coca Cola or Pepsi bottling plant nearby, last I checked, they sell their used barrels for a nominal fee. That's where I got 4 of the 5 I have. You could also check Craig's list as I got a couple there for me and my one neighbor. Hope this might help.

Depending on the size of your garden, you may want to look into IBC totes. I had a 55 gallon rain barrel, but it could not keep enough rain stored from my garden. Luckily, I was able to get an IBC tote cheap (less then $100) and it stores 275 gallons.

Re: Rain Barrel
I found a pet shampoo manufacturer on craigslist who sells the 55 gal plastic barrels in blue and white (in Los Angeles, sorry). I got 3 barrels for $20 (first barrel free). I took them to the car wash and cleaned them up pretty well. I cut 1 in half and am using it for planters. I used one to make a composter. I should've gotten another blue one. Not sure what I'm going to do with it yet.
This posting looks pretty decent. These barrels contained food grade products. Hope it's close to you. There are other listings for barrels.
