My 1st SFG is producing
Thanks to everyones help & advice, my garden is doing OK. I'm getting cukes and green peppers. It's hard to say what the onions & carrots are doing under the soil. I mixed up a couple of squares by mistake, so the yellow squash isn't doing much. However I have 5-6 eggplant peeking out. I'm hoping to overcome the rookie mistakes and have a better SFG next season.

What a great feeling
I am so happy that everything is going so well for you, if you get a chance post some photos of your garden we would all love to see its progress.
Hope the rest of your growing season goes well.

I share your excitement It is so nice to start seeing your work pay off. I am going to do a fall/winter garden this time for the first time. I will be a rookie again.
I've been doing this a long time now but I still learn new things every year.

Congratulations on your first harvests of cukes and peppers
We all enjoy hearing about your successes. Rookie mistakes happen and you just learn from them. Even those who have had a SFG for several years still have problems, be it weather, pest, disease, or a bad batch of compost.
Keep trying and learning.

Re: My 1st SFG is producing
Isn't it exciting when you start to pick your first harvest? I am finding that even in the second year, the anticipation remains and the first pickings are especially appreciated.
In my second year I have still made mistakes, but my ambition is to make them only once; there are so many mistakes still to be made.
I have a question to ask our longer-time mebers. Are you finding that there are many more newcomers to SFG now then say, three or four years ago?

There was a prior forum, but I was not a member then and don't have any information on that one.
