Indianapolis Area, 4X4 Raised Bed Sq Ft Gardener
Hello,
I'm Tiffany and this year have started my first square foot garden. It's a 4X4, 11" raised bed, currently holding carrots, edamame, cucumbers, squash, spinach, sweet onions, dill, chives, green onions, cilantro, bell pepper, okra and parsley. I'm starting my second set of seedlings now to fill in extra space and my first set are doing well, but still not ready to produce. Would love any tips you may have and to chat with others about the area or plants.

Hi Tiffany,
There are quite a few of us Hoosiers on this forum. I'm a southside SFGner. I think we should organize a SFG tour!

What to plant?
Hey, I'm up (or down) in the Carmel/Fishers area. This is my first year as a square foot gardener. I just planted my third box today, and included beans, snap peas, 4 variety of peppers, onions, carrots and radishes. I left a square for my wife to plant chives, if she can find any. Tonight we had a great dinner that included cooked shard and a leaf lettuce- both from the garden. Wonderful! A question I have for anyone to answer is that since the beans and peas are planted at the rear of the top 4 squares if you are facing north, I was thinking about planting something in the wasted space towards the front of those squares. Any ideas?

Wow, you are well represented by fellow Hoosiers. That's awesome. Thanks for jumping in to welcome her, guys!
I welcome you, too. There are a lot of SFGers from all over the midwest. Pop in that subforum and say hi again. There you will find a lot of regional updates to take part in as all of our gardens grow through summer.
Lots of things to talk about.....like cicadas....lol. Mine are dying down, did any of you from Indiana see them this spring?
