Rabbit Manure Question
I'm getting ready to place and fill my beds. One of the 5 composts I'm using is un-composted rabbit manure. I picked up two large bags full last week. I made a possible mistake of not sealing the bags. Today, there were flies and gnats flying in and around the bags. So if these flies and gnats laid eggs in the rabbit manure and I go ahead and use it, will I be dealing with maggots and larvae in my Mel's Mix? And would that be a problem? Should I find another source of compost and then compost the rabbit manure for later use? Thanks.

Re: Rabbit Manure Question
IMO I think composting it may be a good idea.

Re: Rabbit Manure Question
Thanks shannon1. That's almost certainly what I will do unless someone can definitively tell me it would be ok. Don't want to spoil the mix.

Silence is Golden.
Composting it is then.

Re: Rabbit Manure Question
Sometimes all those little maggots serve a purpose..like breaking down stuff.... maybe you could put this in the lower levels of your bed??

Hmm...
Maybe a sign...Thanks for your suggestion sceleste54 (Celeste - my youngest daughter's middle name). Put the Rabbit Manure on the bottom and top with MM? That might work and be quicker and easier than composting.
