Experience growing herbs from seed?
Anyone have any experience growing herbs from seed? I planted chives, rosemary, thyme, and cilantro from seed and I am wondering appox. how long it takes for them to germinate? These were planted in the box the rascal got in to and I am trying to decide if I should replant...

Your chives and cilantro about 7-14 days.
Parsley takes the longest, 21 days.
The others I can't say. Haven't started them from seeds.
The colder the soil when the seeds are sown, the longer it takes so if its been cold nites, they may be slow. They also need to be kept moist all the time they are germinating so don't let them dry out.

Re: Experience growing herbs from seed?
Last winter after the first frost, I threw some of the seed from my basil plant into the pot rather than in the trash. It came up about 4 weeks ago.
Did the same with some dill seed and it came up about 6 weeks ago. Got hit by a frost and the first ones died, but a week after the frost more came up.
They know their time and come up accordingly I guess.

If it's been 2 weeks, I would just replant. Worst case: you have to thin additional seedlings.
I did this after my first carrot planting. Nothing happened after 2 weeks, and I replanted and now they are up. I think a hard rain washed the first seeds away.
