Greetings from South Florida
Hey there.
Greetings from zone 10a (or b)!
started my first veggie garden late. didn't know about square foot gardening, have a huge planting bed full of stuff that's probably not going to fruit, but wanted to get some research done so I can be ready for the fall planting season.
Have a nice day.

Re: Greetings from South Florida

Sorry you did not know about SFG when you set up your first planting bed. You do have time to research and find the best method prior to planting your fall garden. Fall in Southern Florida is a great time to grow veggies. I assume (yeah, we all know, don't assume) from your name that you are located there. I have family on the FL gulf coast and they garden there too.
Have you had a chance to read ALL NEW SQUARE FOOT GARDENING yet? It was published around 2006 and is such a big change from row gardening and even the older method of SFG. If you have not read the book, get it. I refer to mine all the time. It explains the method with simple, easy to follow instructions, and we sure would be glad to help you out, anytime questions come up.
Please keep in touch, keep us updated on your progress, and ask whenever you have questions.
Again, Welcome

HI and welcome soflacommercial! One of my best friends lives in your zone, or close to it anyway. I hope when you do get your garden going, you will post pictures if you can! I'd love to see what you do

garden already going
I have my garden going already. Didn't know about SFG. Hubby and son built me huge bed - U-shaped, 16' each side on the outside, 4' wide each leg and back, and the insides are 12' on each leg, 8' on the back.
pretty cool, but I planted everything the wrong way, planted the wrong things for this time of year, and don't know how much bounty I'm going to have.
but at least i'm trying....

Re: Greetings from South Florida
That U shaped bed sounds great. It is a good way to get the most growing bed for the space. It should do well for SFG. Having the 4 foot depth all around means you will be able to get to your crops for nurturing and harvesting.
Don't stress about what you have already planted.
Do the best you can for now.
In the meantime, read the book, plan out what needs to be changed for this fall and get crackin!
Ask questions as you have them and we will try our best to help you out.

You can see the ALL NEW SQUARE FOOT GARDENING book on this page SFG Store
And yes, the title is all in capital letters.
