I think I'm in trouble....
I do, I think I'm in trouble. I just put together my very first SFG and I'm already hooked!
I got a 4X4 kit from from Home Depot. It's cedar and really, very pretty! I got it cheap... only $18 and free shipping. It was one of HD's black Friday deals two weeks ago. SO happy!!! Now I need to find some more compost and I can start mixing up my first batch of MM. I picked up coarse vermiculite, peat and two bags of compost on my way home from walking with a friend.
Unfortunately, we're supposed to get rain the rest of the week.
Looking forward to Saturday... mix, fill and plant day!

Unfortunately, we're supposed to get rain the rest of the week.

Re: I think I'm in trouble....
Think of it this way.....the rain will saturate your MM really well if you run out between showers and mix it all up again...lol.
And, if you are a true SFGer, you won't bat an eye about doing this. No pressure.
I can't wait to see pictures of it all put together and whne you get some pretty little plant buddies put in there.

Oh, I don't mind getting wet... I just haven't found all of the ingredients for my MM yet! I'll still be walking in the rain. I can certainly "mix" in the rain!

To keep your clothes clean and dry you could just do it naked! If you have a bar of soap handy you can just rinse off outside too.

LOL... it would take a lot more than that to scare me off.
It WAS a great deal. Regular price is $70 plus shipping. The $18 deal was something I "won" on the store's Facebook page. That's why I only got one, that's all I could buy at that price. I would have bought 6 if I could! I think the kit is worth $70. It includes the predrilled cedar sides and beefy hinges with very long spikes to anchor the corners. The kits are also stackable... and connectable if you want to use more than one kit to make something other than a 4X4 garden. I put it together (including lining it with landscape fabric) in less than an hour... it took me longer to unpack it, find the right screwdriver and clean up than it did to assemble it. LOL

That sounds like the kits I have. Regular price $59.95. I caught em at the end of last year sale for $39.95. I bought 6. May have gone up in price this year.

Tril,
Wish I could find deals like that. My closest HD is 80 miles away and it is a really small one with limited gardening stock, but the peeps are nice.
Glad you were able to snap that one up. Good luck on your search for compost ingredients.

Re: I think I'm in trouble....
Found one more variety of compost. Friday I'm taking my 80 yo mom to do her "flower shopping". I'll find something then if I don't tomorrow. I just need two more.
I made my grid today. I got a very nice guy to cut some PVC 1" pipes to length for me at Lowe's. I wired it together. NOW it looks like a SFG! I also got three varieties of tomato and three varieties of peppers. And two varieties of lettuce.
I decided I can't wait for everything to grow from seed!!

I was the same way, so I bought 1ea. 4 pack of kale, red sail lettuce, buttercrunch lettuce, spinach and bok choy. When I planted the starts, I also seeded a square. Instant gratification and successive planting all at once.

There's a line I heard once... of course it was AFTER I'd been flashed.
Yes, really. I was told I should have said, "HUH, it looks like p---s, only smaller!"
