Weather today
YIKES. They are predicting large hail this afternoon with the weather system that is moving across Tennessee. I covered my squares with an old mesh fabric that we had in the storage house, and am looking for a breathable tarp for my big garden. Any suggestions of what to buy? Home Depo didn't have anything last night.

Re: Weather today
I don't have any suggestions for your tarp, but this storm went through our area last night, be safe. OK & AR were hit very hard last night.
To help in the yard, put up things that could become UFO's and land in or on your garden or slam against your house.
I hope you find the tarp you need, but please be safe, and let us know you are okay when this has passed.

Re: Weather today
Just last time we had weather up here, my kids decided to eat lunch on the deck. Well, they forgot to put the umbrella back in it's down position. I kept meaning to get out and do that. Not 15 minutes later, we were leaving to run some errands. The kids yell.....Dad, the umbrella is in the front yard!! I go look and sho nuff, it was lifted up and over the roof and landed in the front yard. Pretty good gust of wind there.
Batten down dem hatches if you are supposed to get storms. 2011 has been more active than most years I remember so far.

Re: Weather today
BYBG, you get any rain/hail/storms yet in ST Louis? Thanks again for the links, I went to chasertv online and watched 15-20 chasers live feed all at one time, saw one tornado form. Interesting video.

Coinciding with the sunspot activity ramping up this year......
http://science.nasa.gov/science-news/science-at-nasa/2011/14apr_thewatchedpot/
Snippet from article.....
"As 2011 unfolds, sunspots have returned and they are crackling with
activity. On February 15th and again on March 9th, Earth orbiting
satellites detected a pair of "X-class" solar flares--the most powerful
kind of x-ray flare."
The storms here last week caused the worst hail damage in 45 years.
EEK.....

Re: Weather today
I ran out to Harpeth True Value and bought some frost cloths and anchored them over the plants. The wind has been blowing so hard today, but we haven't had hail yet. One more round of bad weather for today!

I hear ya! We had snow all weekend! I started my first compost bin today and had to wear my big winter boots to wade through my yard to get the bag of leaves I was saving! I'm soooooooooooo glad I had the foresight to bag them up and hide them away last week when we actually had a few nice days! I've been hoarding "greens" in my fridge, and really needed to get them out of there.
