Did anyone get their free tomato seeds yet?
Did anyone get their free Wintersown tom seeds yet?
I got mine today and I'm thrilled. Not only did I get 5 that I most wanted, but they replaced the one they didn't have with one that would be closest,
plus they sent me six others plus basil and eggplant.
I got 12 in tomatoes:
Amish Paste, Chico III, Lithuanian, Paquebot Roma, Red Robin, Roma VFN, Romeo Roma, Russo's Sicilian Togetta, San Marzano Nano, Sausage, Sibirskij Skorospelyi (a replacement for Sibirskiy Stambovyi), and Super Marmande
What they sent since they couldn't give me all first choices:
Toscano Basil and Rotonda Bianca Eggplant.
The extra toms, I'm sure, are for a small donation I sent.
Unfortunately I won't be able to plant them all but I will try a couple this year. I have sooooo many tomato varieties this year its difficult to choose. I know I want to plant more plum/paste tomatoes and Juliet, Moskvich, Dixie's Sweet and the cluster tomatoes I bought last fall.
The rest will be difficult to choose, except in the community garden where I can only plant organic seeds, so have decided on Moskvich saved from last year's crop, Sophie's Choice, Green Zebra or Rose, and Zarnitsa.
Happily, I have room for 15 tomato plants in my home SFG.
Can you tell I'm delighted?

How do you get the free seeds?
Hi, I just joined yesterday. Could you tell me how you got the free tomato seeds? Is it too late to get them for this year? Thanks, Jim

Re: Did anyone get their free tomato seeds yet?
Diamond Jim,
Welcome to the forum. You'll find lots of good info here and folks who can answer your questions.
This first one is easy: Go here:
http://wintersown.org/wseo1/YourChoiceTomatoSASE.html
Then follow the instructions in the blue section as you scroll down a bit.
You MUST send a copy of a particular dated page they ask for, but just print it on your printer and enclose with your Self-addressed Stamped (with two 44-cent stamps). number 10 business-size envelope.
You do NOT need to send a donation. They will send you 6 packs of tomato seeds with at least 12 in each pack, for FREE. If you send a couple of dollars, they'll probably send you more than the 6 little packets.
Good luck and be sure to check in and let us know how your garden is doing. And we love pictures.

Sweet William is, indeed, a flower. One of my favorites, growing up. Sweet William is a smaller version of Dianthus or Pinks, or maybe the other way around--I can never remember that one. It is a bright, cheery flower with finely-toothed petals. Flowers not very large, but a lot of them. Enjoy! (Only, I don't understand how you got flowers when asking for tomatoes... but freebies are cool.)

Re: Did anyone get their free tomato seeds yet?
WinterSown offers a free variety of seeds, their choice, or you can select from a list of tomatoes.
Sweet Williams are in the dianthus family, but are considered biennials/perrenials. They smell really good, sort of spicy sweet

Where did you find the seeds other than tomatoes? I didn't see them. My envelope is ready to mail.
Re: Did anyone get their free tomato seeds yet?
Dixie, I didn't pick them, they were just randomly in the envelope. It was a pleasant surprise for me.

Re: Did anyone get their free tomato seeds yet?
dixie,
There were other pages about free seed besides the tomatoes. You have to look for them. They had random seeds where they choose for you but mostly flowers, also. When you find it, send for another free group of seeds with another envelope. I got mine over a month ago and then found the tomato choice page later.
