It's the poo in life I get excited about...
How did that happen?
Because you have gone back to the basics, middlemamma, and you know what is important.
Re: Middlemamma's 2nd try: 2011 Garden
lol! We got some a couple months ago and were all excited, so I completely understand!
Re: Middlemamma's 2nd try: 2011 Garden
Ok today was garlic harvest day in the garden!!! I ended up just picking everything that was ready. We decided that beans are so much fun again this year If Joe and I and Maddy (the 6 year old) all pick beans at the same time then we get them all on the plant because we cover the lower middle and top of the plant!!!
Here are the prizes for today's participation...
Various Peppers and the first cherry toms here. The toms range from sweet 100's, zebra cherry green and red, and red currant. The peppers are mini green belles and various hot peppers that lost labels halfway through the season and I have no clue what is what!!! BUT THEY ARE HOT HOT HOT!
Green Beans (pole): We waited too long on many of these to pick...but I don't care we will eat 'em anyway!!
BEAUTIFUL Corn!!!! I was so excited to grow corn this year...it is not supposed to grow well here at all and many people's crops failed completely with our crazy a$$ spring...but mine is beautiful and mystified all my row gardening friends who told me a million reasons MY corn wasn't going to grow/work/fill out....and funny I am the only one who has any edible ears..... Take that you SFG MM nonbelievers!
The ear EXPOSED! SEE.....ONLY A FEW KERNELS MISSING!!!!
And here are all of them!! Not huge, but super filled out and EDIBLE!!! YAY!!!!
A table full of garlic! OYE VAY....no vampires AT OUR house!
h
I was feeling kinda overwhelmed when we went out to the garden today. With my brother having been here the last couple weeks have been hectic and I have let a lot go out there...but now I feel revived and calm....just walking in and amongst my boxes does that to me. I love my SFG's!!!

Fantastic! You've come a long way baby. Especially with the garlic! LOL. What a great harvest and great looking corn. SFG all the way.
Braid the garlic and bring the extras with you everywhere you go to give away.

Great harvest! Dinner will be good tonight! My garden also seems to have a calming effect on me...... unless I find a horn worm or a squash bug!

Beautiful harvest, MM! I don't see where you ever said what happened to your earlier try at garlic and am dying to know! Your onions grew ok and you got a harvest from them?

Thanks, Boffer. I had read that thread, but somehow missed where MM said the garlic grew tall & beautiful! It's great, though, I think when even those who us "newbies" think are practically infallible at sfgardening admit their mistakes - makes me feel just a tad bit less like a doofus!

Thunderstorm rolling in with possible hail...
I'm praying the garden makes it through!

In my best southern accent "Oh, hail!" I'm protecting your garden I know it will be just fine. No hail for you.
