Anyone ever grow yacon?
While following a thread in another post I saw an article in MEN about yacon. I'd never heard of this South American tuber and wondered if anyone here has grown it. From the description it sounds to me sort of like a cross between a Jerusalem artichoke and a jicama, but looks like a sweet potato. Is that accurate?
The article really sings its praises as good food for diabetics and weight watchers, an aid to digestion, a good source of beneficial bacteria for the digestive system, and a source of antioxidants.

Re: Anyone ever grow yacon?
I had never heard of Yacon before. I have only found one source so far. Seeds of Change lists this as a rare heirloom and attaches a substantial price for a single plant. Based on the listed health benefits, this might be a good addition to my garden, but it takes so much room for a single plant.
