Help!! - sweet potato info from old forum
Last year at this time (fall), I studied the sfg forum quite extensively - going through quite a few layers of pages. At one point I was looking at posts about storing/freezing sweet potatoes. One gentleman had given a sweet potato fries recipe. I had bookmarked it, used the recipe and fallen in love. This year I went back to get the recipe and the old forum no longer exists. Does anyone remember this post and/or the recipe? These are the things I remember: the gentleman said he and his wife enjoyed the recipe, he said he had invested in a french fry cutter and someone had asked him where he had gotten it, he said the recipe was originally a french fry recipe that he used for sweet potatoes, the recipe had cumin in it, he had a picture of himself I believe on the side of his post, he also had religious quotes on his post. If anyone knows of this post or this gentleman or has a copy of the recipe, I am in desperate need. I have researched all other recipes and they just aren't right.
Thanks,
Denise

How funny! That part describes me to a T.
I love our baked french fries recipe so I'll post it in the Side Dishes forum. I hope it's the one you're looking for.

Re: Help!! - sweet potato info from old forum
Well shucks...here's where I'm at so far... My wife remembers that the recipe came out of the Cooking Light magazine, the issue that had lentil soup on the cover. Of course I can't find it, and she cooks it from memory, which is:
It was a sweet potato fries recipe that we use on regular potatoes.
Lightly coat fries with olive oil
Add cumin, coreander, salt and pepper to taste
Marinade four hours
Bake at 375 degrees for 30-40 minutes.
(make a lot cause they're good)
You're right, there are a lot of variations. Does this even sound close?

Wow - that sounds very close. Do you remember posting this? If this is the recipe and you are the one, I'm going to jump for joy - I stayed up for hours last night trying to find this in my bookmarks and researching online - obsessing and driving myself crazy because I couldn't find anything that seemed close. Did you post that you had a french fry cutter and someone asked where you got it? If so, where did you get it? It might be my (tired) mind playing tricks on me, but I even think I remember you saying "make a lot 'cause they're good" on that old post. If you do put your hands on the actual recipe - please post it.
Thanks so much.

That came in the nick of time. I was a little worried about keeping up with my sweet potatoes.
