What I meant was Vietnamese summer rolls. It is basically veggies (and sometimes meat) wrapped in rice paper. I guess rice paper is a starch, though.

I have some orange thyme growing which I haven't used yet. I thought it died but when I checked the other day, it is doing fine. Just rubbing my hands across it, it smells SO good!!!

Oh, I've always called them spring rolls, so didn't make the connection. Rice paper is OK since it's so thin. Haven't made spring rolls in years and years. Might consider it.

But I think next year I'm going to try lemon basil -- I use lemon balm in quite a few foods. The lime is just so strong -- almost overpowering.

Ah! To me, spring rolls are the deep fried things with a wheat-based wrapper, basically a very thin sheet of pasta. Summer rolls are where the rice paper is soaked in warm water until pliable and wrapped around ready-to-eat foods.

It grows great in the house, if you can give it plenty of light. Water it little and often, and pinch the top to encourage bushing out when it gets to the height you want. I've grown several batches last winter!

Summer rolls are so good they SHOULD be junk food... and I often make them carnivore-style. Yum! Very Happy
