I have grown basil for the last 3 years in my boxes on the deck and thought they did fabulous. This year I grew it in my SFG. OH MY GOODNESS!!! Two of them next to the tomato in the "good boxes" where veges are thriving are the size of bushes! I had no clue basil could get that big! It is bigger than some of my 'mater plants! The basil in a SFG that needs more compost is on the very small side. Amazing to see the difference.

Isn't that fun? I had my first successful basil 'crop' this year. I have twice made pesto and my two squares are still going strong. I figured I'd just see how far they would go. I assume frost will kill them but until then,it sure is productive.
