Hello Fellow Gardeners.
My name is Marc and I live in Chino Valley, just north of Prescott, Arizona. I am about 2 hours north of Phoenix in the high plains (4,700ft). Last year was our first experiment in gardening. We did it the old fashion way with rows. Some things turned out well like tomatoes, cantelope, butternut squash, zucchini, chard, basil, and parsley. Others didn't--carrots, onions, cucumbers, broccoli, lettuce, spinich, etc. I saw the SFG book and thought it sounded great. My brother-in-law and I have built 9 boxes and I just planted my first box this afternoon (onions, broccoli, kale, lettuce, spinach, radishes, carrots). We are supposed to be warming up, but it's been in the high 20's/low 30's at night so I got it covered.
My wife and I are excited to start and so are my kids!

Good golly you are way up in the clouds!

You got cantaloupe but not cucumbers? That’s wild! I got cucumbers in my mountain valley but never cantaloupe (season was too short, I'm in Washington the state ....but being from Arizona you probably realize there is another Washington).

That is so cool that your brother in law and you are working on this together. Hope to here more.

Deborah ....welcome

I think the canteloupe and butternut squash grew because of the seeds in the compost. I was surprised that no cucumber grew.
