In Maine, my first tomato harvest!
Are you ready for these beauties?

Now, I didn't promise a BIG harvest, did I.
These are 2 of the Matt's Wild Cherry tomatoes I picked today. They tasted very good, a little sweet, but not too much. I loved them. Maybe planting them in my A-frame helped them along a bit.

This is a picture of the tomato plant before I picked those little darlings.
There's others ripening, so I'm thrilled.

As you can see, my early Oregon Spring toms still haven't reddened, tho they are coming along nicely. The 3 determinate plants are full of fruits, but all still green.

These are some San Marzano Gigante 3s that are also still green, but lightening somewhat so maybe color will be seen soon.
I'm just so thrilled to have tomatoes, big or small, one or two, its all wonderful. My very first harvest.
If you want to see other fruits in my garden and how they are doing, like eggplant, peppers, cukes, please click on my quiltbeagardens blogspot below.

Re: In Maine, my first tomato harvest!
Beautiful harvest!!! Congrats! I'm a wee bit jealous! I'm still waiting for the first tomatoes. It's wicked hot here today
and I am hoping for the tomatoes in a few days. The peppers and aubergine are loving the weather too. Yesterday I put up 8 pints of bread & butter pickles, it took me about 10 days to harvest enough cukes from 8 vines to make those and there are more coming! Today I pruned back my basil (30 plants in 6 sqs) and made 2.5 quarts of pesto. ooooooh yummy!

Re: In Maine, my first tomato harvest!
camprn....Lucky you
with cucumbers already harvested. Mine are just starting to grow and some have blossoms. I can see a very late harvest for me and I so wanted to put up pickles this year.

These are my Northern Pickling around their tower.
Happily, I have some larger vines at the community garden which I started earlier.

Wow! That's a lot of pesto! Did you freeze it? I usually chop everything together in a food processor minus the cheese, and then freeze it in muffin cups or ice cube trays. Once it's frozen I put it in in zip freezer bags. I also do basil by itself this way.

I am freezing it in ice cube trays, then the cubes into freezer ziploc bags. Yeah It's way more than I though I was going to get.

Re: In Maine, my first tomato harvest!
I love pesto! Now I wish I had grown more. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. My favorite way to use/eat it, is to spread it over a tomato cut in half and broil until crusty. Romas are especially yummy this way, but I'm not picky.
Actually, I probably still have time to plant some more, just need to find a free square!

Re: In Maine, my first tomato harvest!
The other day I was thinking of pulling the 4 broc plants and planting more basil. But really, how much pesto do I need? :suspect:
