Garden tour and I need help

A couple of people asked to see my garden since I kept talking about how I went crazy this year (especially considering this is my first year). So far I have tomatoes, sugar snap peas, asparagus, strawberries, cantaloupe, sugar baby watermelon, and large watermelon, cucumbers, garlic, 3 kinds of onions, 3 kinds of beans, carrots, basil, jalapenos, zucchini, a bunch of herbs, blueberry plants, and 4 miniature citrus trees meant to be kept in planters and brought indoors in winter (orange, lemon, tangerine, and lime). It sounds like a lot, but if you look at my pics, you'll see I'm not using very much room at all. I'm in zone 6 if you are wondering. I have some questions since this is my first year growing most things. If you all could help, that would be great.

What's wrong with these tomato plants?




When do I pick broccoli? Is this one too late?



When do I pick sugar snap peas? When they look like the first one, or the second?

Hi, Cannot help with most of your questions, but the peas. Pick your peas like the first picture. The second picture is a little past their prime. The easy way to check is to pick them and eat them right in the garden. The less defined peas will taste like sunshine and the others will be a bit tougher. Still edible but not as good. Hope this helps.

I am not sure if with sugar snaps if they are past their prime if you can just treat them like regular peas and remove them from their shells and eat them that way.

Sheer, gut instinct suggests to me that the top tomato plant thinks it is dying, so it is trying to reproduce before it dies. Hungry, maybe?

Broccoli is too late when those little nubbly things in the head start opening up and turning into little yellow flowers. (Even though I am still eating some of my bok choi that has already bolted and rapini that is trying to bolt!)

Tomato on the second picture looks like it has a magnesium deficiency. The deficiency symptom first appears in older leaves. Leaf tissue between the veins may be yellowish while the leaf veins remain green. Tomato on the first picture looks like it also suffers from some microelements deficiency, but I'm not sure which one.
I suggest that you get good fertilizer with microelements (esp. Ca, Mg, S, Mn).
In the meantime you can water you tomatoes (as well as all other plants) with a mixture of 1-2 Tbsp. of Epsom salt in 1 gallon of water (source of Mg (magnesium).

As for peas - if you clearly see bulges in the pods it is too late for the best taste. Of course they are still good to eat.

Ha haa, I didn't mean the clumping of the tomatoes. Believe it or not, they are supposed to be like that. It is a variety specifically meant for growing in containers and it stays very, very compact. I was concerned with the yellowing of the leaves, and the brown spots. I am thinking maybe they have been over watered perhaps, since it is in a container, and it has been raining a lot. I guess the brown spots are from bugs.

I really suggest good fertilizer and Epsom salt. As we all know nutrients are washed off from containers very quickly. If you have good drainage I doubt you overwater them. Your first tomato looks like Red Robin, is it it?
