Ok, so we moved into this foreclosed home last year and a lot was overgrown and not taken care of.

Last year I figured out these were some sort of vine berry, can you help me figure out what?

Sure looks like it. Let the berries ripen up and see what you have! (It does look a lot like raspberries, though.)

I've never seen raspberries grow in a vine habit, just canes. Which maybe suggests blackberries, but I just don't know. Whatever it is, it looks invasive, but potentially tasty.

Are these two plants? One with reddish stems and 3 sections to their leaves, which you call "vines" - could they be brambles ie blackberry? And the other one with 5 sections to the leaves does look like raspberry.
I am mad with jealousy!

We have those same plants too, something like them and they are blackberries. They are wild here, our sub division was planted with pine trees for 15 years. We didnt clear cut our property and so glad we didnt now. We have so many native plants because of it now. When we moved in the first year we had berries, and each year more. I plan to help them more once the house is built and I have more time for this area of the property. And they are so sweet too ! The boys go out and take a cup and bring some in. I still dont have enough for a jam yet.
I hope yours are black berries !!

Thanks you guys as always!

Megan, i have no idea, I know I was in the store and there was a box that said raspberry vine, but I didn't get it, glad now!!

Ice: The "seem" to be different plants (several plants) but I cant really see because I'm not sticking my arm in there Wink They were shaded by a tree that we ripped out and man once they got full sun! Wait, raspberry canes NOW? Icon_eek

But, yes, the first couple pictures and three leaves seem to be different than the 3/5 leaves on a cane.

So, Since I am late to making a trellis, leave them be? Or should I still try so I can get them off the ground?

HAVV: So, you think they are both raspberries? I mean there are berries on it, and they are so cute and I am SOOO excited!

I dont do anything with the berrie plants we have. I let them just grow, like you said when the trees were cleared they just took off !! I do hope they are berries for you ! I went outside to take a pic to show you. The ones with the black berries have 3 leaves. And boy do they have pickers (thorns).

It would be a bit early for blackberries maybe? So it could all be raspberries. [Or blackberries judging by the new pics] You will know when they are ripe Wait, raspberry canes NOW? Icon_lol

I think you should leave the fruiting canes alone.

But find a way to tie the new growth so that its stays vertical-ish if they are raspberries. And then when you have picked the fruit you cut the old canes away. You do that each year so that it always fruits on last year's growth. Least ways that is what my sister does in England!

Blackberries I think you just leave to do their own thing, tie them up a bit if they are in your way.
