Use of horse manure Empty Use of horse manure

Post  gerrykirk on 5/25/2010, 5:54 pm

Hello, I have access to 4 yr old horse manure from a local farmer. Rich, black stuff. Can I use that in my square foot garden and if so, what is the best way to use it (quantity, mix with what)?

Thanks,
Gerry

Use of horse manure Empty compost it first

any horse manure, regardless of age, goes into my compost pile for a good heating cycle. Horses just don't digest seeds well and honestly it's best to run any manure from farms through your compost pile just to be safe.
