Table Top Raised Bed
A local garden center is advertising Amish Built Raised Beds, so I stopped by to see what they have. It is an interesting design. They use 55 gallon food grade plastic barrels cut in half lengthwise, and built a frame around it so that there are two sections to the raised bed. Each section is 2' wide by 3' long. There are no drain holes in the bottom of the barrels, which would have to be drilled before filling the bed. The beds are waist high, which would make tending them very easy.
"In short, the soil food web feeds everything you eat and helps keep your favorite planet from getting too hot. Be nice to it." ~ Diane Miessler, "Grow Your Soil"

Re: Table Top Raised Bed
Are they truly "Amish built" or is that just a gimick to trick people into believing they are something special and, thereby, artificially inflating the price?

Re: Table Top Raised Bed

it may not be amish built. the amish do wood work
like that.
