introduction wargarden 2017
lets see I started gardening in 1985 with my dad.
after few years we got busy with other things.
I restarted garden in 1997 .
I have grown vegetables in conventional beds; and square foot beds
both original and the update versions for the last 25 years.
I met Mel Bartholomew several years ago when he spoke at philly
garden show when the all new square foot book came out.
I also do both food and garden research with a an emphasis
WW1 , WW2, the great depression, the 1970's.but also historic gardening ideas.
I been cited as researcher in two vegetable garden books.
I also have collection of over 300 pre 1980's vegetable garden sample plans from various sources. the mistakes and bad advice in some of them makes me wonder how the authors
learned and researched garden info in the past.
I also made two cookbook authors who i will not mention by name
very angry because I showed they used bad research as basis for the origin of two
well known historical recipes.
my garden books, pamphlet, newspaper article and magazine collection both
hard copy and data files has so many things in it I would not
even take a guess at how pages it is in total.
I won prizes for canning, baking and vegetables at my state fair.
I have won several first, second and place ribbons. I also took a grand champion
ribbon for growing wheat. I also placed in several giant vegetable competitions
in the watermelon and tomato categories.
I work nights so posting late at night or really early in morning would not be uncommon
for me. As well gardening with headlamp at night. so I beat the heat and avoid high humidity.
hope that is not to much info
