Hi from Las Vegas
Hi everyone! I'm really excited to have found this forum. I bought the SFG book earlier this year after I had an almost complete bust with my first home garden. In not letting defeat get the best of me, I'm picking up my bootstraps and trying again with the SFG method.
I really am looking at slowly building to some sustainability when it comes to vegetables. Fruit would be great in much later future but is very intimidating in the Las Vegas weather. I can't wait to see what knowledge I learn from this forum.
Thank you in advance for answering any of the questions that may seem silly

Re: Hi from Las Vegas
Welcome to the forum from hot and humid Ohio! Gardening in the desert like Las Vegas can present unique challenges, but it is possible. I am sure that proper watering and shade cloth will be your friend.
Be sure to check out the Regional Forum for your area, the Southwestern Deserts. There you will find members with similar growing conditions to yours.

Definitely checking out the regional forums as well. There's a lot of information - so working on not getting too overloaded. Thanks again!

Re: Hi from Las Vegas
Hi MM, Welcome to the Forum from Fresno, California, where the summers run near and above 100*F. I have overhead shade cloth up June - September. The only major difference between Fresno and Las Vegas are the cool desert nights.
Please, if you have any questions, ask. Do read the book, though, ALL NEW Square Foot Gardening, either the 2nd or 3rd Edition. Also read the following links:

A Nevada SFG gardener, Brainchasm, did such a great job setting up his beds. Unfortunately, his photos were lost when the free internet site for photos (can't remember the name) held its users at ransom. Pay or all your photos disappear. Well, photos from that service disappeared from the SFG Forum. Basically, BC used concrete blocks for the frames. Since they are 8" high they were perfect for 6-7" of Mel's Mix plus mulch. He also used overhead shade cloth for the beds during the summer.

Tiny Spock set up tabletop beds and I have seen recent photos on another site showing that she is still going strong. https://squarefoot.forumotion.com/t19499-my-sfg-5-14-15-kingman-az
