Snow peas coming out fat
My snow pea plants (started in april zone 6) produced some nice peas (maybe a handful) but now are coming out with the pods already plump. It's kind of a bummer.
Is it too hot or too little water or something else?
Would appreciate any advice, thanks!

Re: Snow peas coming out fat
Karynne, All peas are usually cool/cold weather plants. If it's warm where you are, they could be frantically trying to reproduce by accelerating the pea seed production.
Re: Snow peas coming out fat
Karynne. Did you plant in EARLY April or towards the end of April? I also live in zone 6 and I try to plant my Sugar Snaps or Snow Peas very early in April. Most of the time, I get away with it but this year, we had snow in mid April and I'm glad I didn't plant peas. I instead, planted Cukes where I had Peas last year.karynne wrote:My snow pea plants (started in april zone 6) produced some nice peas (maybe a handful) but now are coming out with the pods already plump. Re: Snow peas coming out fat
Yep you are both right I planted too late. @MrBooker yep it was cold too long this year for peas.
I am going to snag the little flat ones, the plump ones are too fibrous or maybe I'll just shell them and use as regular peas.
Will try again in the fall (maybe).
