Lo and Behold -My Peas are coming!
Yes, indeed!
Planted sugar snap peas and carrots last Sunday. Went out today, and Lo and Behold my peas are sprouting!!
I am so excited! The weather has been so mild. Today planted more carrots, various lettuce, radishes and beets.
I can't wait for the rest to come up and more planting.......

Re: Lo and Behold -My Peas are coming!
Yay! I took a look and some of my peas are peeking through as well! Unfortunately, I decided to move the peas to the north end of my box from the west end, so I'm a bit worried that some that sprouted (that I moved) won't make it. So I planted a few more dry ones - I guess I'll end up with a staggered crop (which is what I should have started with anyway). It's soooo warm up here right now: I haven't seen sprouts on the lettuces I planted, but I reckon they'll show up soon (if the squirrels and chipmunks didn't find them, that is).

Just a suggestion; after I plant my seeds I cover the SFG boxes with weed blocker - the same cover I use all winter lawn over my beds. I hold the weed blocker down with bricks. I just take the covers off when I need to water.
It keeps the birds and critters out of the garden until they grow more.
By the way, planted the rest of my Sugar Snap Peas today......

Thanks for the tip - I'll try that. I didn't want to go all out with the regular plastic - it seemed like overkill, but weed blocker seems like a nice compromise.

Okay, now I'm really excited because I didn't lose the sprouted peas that I transplanted.
I see at least a few of them coming up today!
And some of the lettuce I planted is beginning to come up as well. Ah, life is good.

Where's the slaps self on head emoticon? I went and bought some fancy-shmancy things when I have more than a half roll of that stuff left over from a previous project.
But, when I put the fancy, pricey thingy on the SFG last night, the critters hadn't gotten everything and my peas are coming up too!

Re: Lo and Behold -My Peas are coming!
Dunkinjean.....Do you mean row cover instead of weed blocker? Weed blocker would prevent the sun from hitting the crops as well as the weeds. Row cover is light and porous so sunlight and rainfall can pass thru. I use it all the time to prevent insect damage. Just remember to remove it when the crops are blossoming so the bees, flying insects and the wind can pollinate.

It is not row cover., it is weed blocker. I remove them to water the seeds. I am only covering the seeds temporarily. I am going away on vacation for a week. When I return I will take the covers off completely. Thanks for your concern and help.
