CN, Have you checked at Home Depot for onion starts? They should have early varieties available any time now.

I'll try, but I'm not optimistic that they'll have that variety.

Wonder if anyone here lives near Chico, and can pick up the seeds at the Sustainable Seed store, and then drop them in the mail for a 50-cent stamp? Hmmmmmmmm.......

Unfortunately, I'm the closest and I'm 90 minutes away. Another option would be to do a joint order, but I think most of us are already done with our big seed orders for the season.

Home Depot or Lowes had some sweet onions starts earlier. I think they were either Texas 1015 or Granex (Vidalia type onions). Both of those are short day onions. Both of these were also transplants and not seeds.countrynaturals wrote:sanderson wrote:CN, Have you checked at Home Depot for onion starts? They should have early varieties available any time now.

Botanical Interests has Granex seeds.
I have a partial pack of Texas 1015Y seeds But I planted some this year and only got about 10% germination. Not worth the postage to mail them to you. They are from 2014 and onion seeds need to be fairly fresh to get decent germination. They were from Sustainable Seed Company.

Thanks, Yolos. I didn't think there were any sweet onions available for our region, so I didn't even try.
