Lubbock, Texas Glad to Find this Forum
I would love to visit with someone who lives here, in Lubbock, about Square Foot Gardening. Vermiculite is on my list of "surely I can find it cheaper". I did find 1-4 Foot Cubic Bag in Plainview, but decided it wasn't worth the drive to by one bag at 30+$. If they had had 4 bags I would have.
I found 5--2 Cu Ft bags of the fine Vermiculite at Home Depot for 20.97 each. I would need 8 of those 20.97 bags. That's 167.76 plus tax. Im thinking that's a lot of money. Is it? Besides, don't I need coarse?
My mind is going in circles trying to find a deal on Vermiculite.

Thats what I use countrynaturals. I have plenty of Elm trees in my yard and when fall comes, I mulch a huge, no, "HUGE" pile of leaves and add all of my kitchen scraps and let it sit all winter and it turns into beautiful leaf mold LOADED with earthworms.
I'm going to post some pics shortly. I have a new project.

Onelisa, It's better to have coarse vermiculite if you can get it. Someone, some place, mentioned ULine for true coarse vermiculite. I haven't looked at HD or Lowes, but someone suggested checking the building material section for coarse.

I purchased course vermiculite from PVP Industries on amazon.com. It's a 4 cu. bag currently selling for $33.50 plus $.99 shipping. It's a large bag and goes a long way.

I know, sanderson. I thought that was a mistake so I logged off and then back on. Even put on my glasses. Still $.99.

from Kelejan in British Columbia

I have visited Pasadena (relations) and San Antonio (friends) a couple of times in the past. I remember travelling from here in B.C. at 32F cold and arriving in San Antonio at 72F to fine the heat unbearable at the time. That was in April.
I am happy you have managed to get your coarse vermiculite and @ 99c shipping. Unbelievable but to happy for you. Look forward to following your progress.
