Any one have any experience with one of the Garden Tower Project or similar setup?

https://gardentowerproject.com

Ive been seeing lots more vertical gardening setups and know they work.  I just wonder on how much is mlike a potato tower where effective producing on it requires a pretty careful execution.

Perhaps I will just go simple and do this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007TFTXAC/ref=asc_df_B007TFTXAC5409186/?tag=hyprod-20&creative=394997&creativeASIN=B007TFTXAC&linkCode=df0&hvadid=167146984279&hvpos=1o14&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7386944332269362072&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=t&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9031574&hvtargid=pla-305921223003

I haven't tried either but believe they would work.  I think the strawberry one would be pretty small considering the size of one strawberry plant.  A couple years ago I did seriously consider buying one of the big ones but decided against it.  You'll have to let us know if you do get one and how it works.

I made a few and have been happy with the results, I was actually thinking of hooking one up like a lazy suzan using a BBQ rotisserie and timer to spin the tower every other day or so but never got around to it.
IMHO The key to a good garden tower is coming up with a watering system that
1) waters the entire tower
2) doesn't over water and run out of the bottom leaching much needed nutrients.

If you are interested in how to make one, I'll send you a link to my tower projects.

Kudos to anyone who can get a tower to work.  I tried the strawberry hanging planters but I just couldn't get the watering correct and the mix kept shrinking, which is fine in the beds but a nuisance with these.  Photos 2013, my first year SFG. Garden Tower Project 4-9-1310

I think big gutters would be a lot easier for drip irrigation.  Stock photo. Garden Tower Project Gutter10

Garden Tower Project Empty Garden Tower 2

Post  Zoay 3/26/2018, 12:38 pm

Hello all,

I'm new here. I am trying out the garden tower project 2 this year for the first time. I've just hooked up a solar irrigation kit to the water butt beside it, today.

The thing I really like about it is the wormery down the middle. And it spins on its axis.

I'm starting some of my plants in an indoor mini hydroponics unit and some of them directly in the soil pockets. So far i have cabbages, raddish, carrot, nasturtiums, chives, spring onions, chamomile, coriander and a few spring bulbs just for colour which will be replaced by tomato plants once it warms up.

I am getting too cronky to enjoy scrabbing around on the floor much so am enjoying the ease of a tower garden on the knees!

Hi Zoay. Welcome from Atlanta, GA in the SE US. Glad you're here!

I'm always interested in finding ways to save space & grow more (1st rule of being a pack-rat - learn how to pack!)

If I can do it without having to get down on the ground, so much the better! So please continue to post on how your tower does for you.

Also, be sure to look up Plantoid's information in the archives. I believe he's in Wales... He's a WEALTH of information!
